First shoot of my new Baby Desert Eagle II .40 S&W aka Jericho. Polymer Full-Size. 4.52" barrel. Made in Israel. Imported/Marketed by Magnum Research (Kahr). READ MORE BELOW... February 22, 2012 Ammunition: 180gr Federal Champion FMJ Location: Lefthand Canyon, Boulder, Colorado Failure to feed problems on initial magazine loads. First round fails to feed every time. Using Federal .40 S&W 180 gr. FMJ (cheap, I know) Could be the problem. Also, feed ramp may need some polishing or grease/oil. **YES, I cleaned and lubed/greased the gun before I shot it the first time.** What could be the problem(s)?? I'm all ears. See the Part 2 Update here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX1fHG7IBzQ&feature=relmfu Overall Opinion: The gun shoots great when it works. Very accurate. This is the first time I shot it so we'll see how it works in the future. I love the heavy/solid feel of it even though it's the polymer model. The grooved finger notches in the grip of the poly-model are amazing.

Mar 11, 2012 - I had the same problem and the range master told me that if I just pull the slide back and let it slam shut, instead of kinda hold on to it like you did and it helped, my gun fed just fine. Don't know if you get it resolve by now but that's my $.02.

Mar 11, 2012 - @MrHeominhon @zi0matrix Yeah, you guys are both correct. I was "babying" it a little bit. Also, the display model Tanfoglio magazine that came with the gun is either defected or used. The follower is higher and angled different.

Mar 15, 2012 - just so you know, there's a thing called a slide release on the side of the pistol. you don't have to hand move the slide into battery. not trying to be mean, just couldn't figure out why you do it that way.

Mar 16, 2012 - it happens very rarely and after a extremely long time but sometimes using the slide stop instead of racking the slide can cause wear and tear on the slide or the slide stop.

Mar 16, 2012 - When you have failures to feed... the slide release is the last option you want to use. "Slingshoting" the slide allows you to get the most out of the recoil spring to chamber a new round. Thanks for the view.

Apr 9, 2012 - when you rack your slide and your loading a round pull it all the way back and let the slide go. the gun dosent ease the next round in when you shoot it. dont polish your rails that should never be needed on a new gun to make it cycle right! just keep shooting and if you keep having the problem when your rails are greased then you might have a problem. if your mag springs are extremely tight like XD's are known for that can cause issues to, keeping them fully loaded for awhile can help.

Apr 9, 2012 - Thanks for the view and info. Did you watch my Part 2 follow-up? It was a magazine issue.

Mar 10, 2012 - Slow manual feeds tend not to be successful. Best just to slingshot that slide forward on the first round. AR-15's have this problem too which is what the forward assist can help with.
