This is a shot breakdown that goes through the steps it takes to make the end shot work. The style I was going for is the One Republic - Good life music video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZhQOvvV45w&ob=av2n ) The first step is to make a green board with a good tracker in the middle. Also, the board should be the same aspect ratio as the video you want to use - 16:9 here. Then I shot the footage and imported it into Mocha for AE and tracked the box in the middle of the board. I set the surface for 3 different sizes, one after another. 1. The tracker box 2. The green board 3. The green board plus a little padding. Export all of the tracks into some text files. (For more help, go here ae.tutsplus.com/tutorials/vfx/double-stuffed-tracking-walkthrough/ ) Next, I brought the footage into AfterEffects (5.5, but shouldn't really matter as long as you're CS3+) and made some solids that were white and black to act as masks and used the corner pin info on these. Use the the 3rd corner pin export for the video. This will make the video clips look like they're on the board, but won't make it look like your hands are in the right spot. Next, I keyed out the board and used corner pin export #1 to mask out the motion tracker box. Finally, since the keying took a harsh jab at my colors, I added the original footage back on top and used the corner pin export #2 to make sure the green board didn't pop back up. Let me know if you need any help.
